The Juan Bruce-Novoa conference is one of the three most important Mexican Studies meetings held in the United States, which brings together scholars and artists from Mexico, the U.S., and beyond. This year’s theme, “The Body at its Limits,” provides a forum to address current representations of the body, while also discussing the various complex, nuanced and perhaps even contradictory ways bodies are represented in Mexican literature, visual cultures, and the arts. Keynote Speakers are the multi-awarded Mexican novelist Mario Bellatin and Alberto Castro Leñero, a renowned Mexican artist and public intellectual whose work spans painting, sculpture, graphics, and urban art projects.
