“Cultivating Consciousness and Environmental Justice in Acjachemen and Tongva Homelands” Panel Discussion

UCI Community Resilience Projects co-sponsored a panel discussion on “Cultivating Consciousness and Environmental Justice in Acjachemen and Tongva Homelands.” The panel was the keynote event following a day-long visit to UC Irvine of approximately 50 high school students from southern California Native Nations. During their visit, UCI students from the Global Sustainability Resource Center took the high schoolers on a campus sustainability tour. The tour also visited laboratories in the departments of Earth System Science and Physics, where students met with Drs. Kathleen Johnson and Franklin Dollar, two Native faculty members who are part of the host committee. After the keynote panel discussion, the day culminates with a Native Community Dinner honoring the visiting students.
