The Community Water Conversation is part of a Listening Process about strengths and needs in the Santa Ana River watershed, sponsored by the Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority (SAWPA). The event is free and open to the public. Spanish and English interpretation will be provided on site.

The purpose of the SAWPA Listening Process has been to learn about the strengths and needs of your community as well as water-related issues. Participation in the Community Water Conservation will help to inform the development of water-related projects in the Santa Ana Watershed. This work is funded through the Proposition 1 Technical Assistance Funding Program.

Background

The Orange County Environmental Justice held 5 listening sessions in Orange County in the Spring and Summer of 2019 through which we heard from 54 people. We also held sessions in San Bernardino and Riverside county, reaching a total of 171 residents.

The purpose of Community Water Conversation on Tuesday, October 15th from 6:00-8:00 pm at James Madison Elementary School Library 1124 East Hobart Street Santa Ana, CA 92707  is to:

  1. Summarize for the Orange County community the findings from the listening sessions watershed wide and county wide.
  2. Answer questions that people have about water in Orange County. A representative from SAWPA and a local water manager will come prepared to answer questions.
  3. Inform community groups about the availability of the Disadvantaged Communities Involvement Technical Assistance Program Funding for which some organizations may be interested in applying.  See these links to the DCI Program Information and the application for TA funding.

The event is free and open to the public.
