UCI Community Resilience is a member of a community-academic partnership in Santa Ana, California, called Economía Regenerativa Comunitaria (ERC). ERC is a collaboration that creates conditions for shared financing of community ownership initiatives. The collaboration is building an interdependent set of cooperative structures that

  • support community priorities and livelihoods;
  • cultivate ecological and economic sanctuaries; and
  • protect and regenerate what disinvested communities need to thrive.

Guided by values of sustainability, changing the role of money to serve community well-being, and understanding the difference between money and wealth, ERC aims to transform the local economy into one that benefits everyone. Rooted in culture, arts, wellness, and accountability, the collaboration reclaims pathways to regenerative economic power for historically and systematically disinvested communities. Our projects are owned by community members, addressing their most pressing needs and expansive visions. Convening anchor organizations include:

ERC members co-convene the Community Resilience Center planning process and a mini-grants program for Santa Ana resident leaders interested in and building a regenerative economy. To support this collaboration, UCI Community Resilience is co-located with UCI Law Clinics and UCI Public Health on the second floor of El Centro Cultural de México, a community cultural center in Santa Ana.
