Gregory Lopez

gregory lopezGregory is the Community Resilience Project Manager in the Office of Sustainability at the University of California, Irvine. The role represents the Department in community-driven collaborative research, education, training, and service projects with campus and external stakeholders.

Gregory brings nearly a decade of global experience working towards a more just and sustainable future to UCI. Previously, Gregory led the development of the Climate Program at the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, where he deployed over $10M to advance clean energy, conservation, and sustainable food solutions. In addition, he served as Project Manager and Smart City Director at 7th Generation Advisors, working closely with international NGO’s, governments, and other partners to achieve measurable GHG emissions reductions. Gregory also co-founded Better Than One, a sustainable apparel and design company that aimed to create positive social and environmental impact through campaigns and community engagement.

Based in Los Angeles, Gregory advises clients on climate change and sustainability issues, with an emphasis on equitable and just action, through his private practice. Gregory also serves on the Board and Executive Committee of Interfaith Power & Light, an organization committed to mobilizing the faith community to act on climate change.

Gregory is a proud graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a B.S. in Environmental Science with a minor in Environmental Systems and Society.
